Lake Coeur d’alene summer 2014

It must have been a great summer if I haven’t posted one blog since the first of June! I think this was the best summer weather we’ve had in years, but I bet I say that every year!  My family and I enjoyed it to the fullest with all of our outdoor activities.  My husband ventured motorcycle riding every Sunday, while I chose to paddle board!  I gathered up some neighbors and girlfriends at least twice a week to meet at Sanders Beach!  The best times were early mornings on the weekends and evenings during the week, mostly avoiding the choppy water from the boat traffic!  I ventured over the Lake Fernan and also the Cd’A River a couple of times!  Sanders Beach, at 12th street was uncrowded and smooth waters!  Hope you enjoyed your summer as well and I promise to blog more often.  Cheers to our lovely fall season!

Car d’Lane 2014 in downtown Coeur d’Alene!

We had great views and front row seats curbside!  As always, we enjoyed the Car d’lane cruise on Friday night in downtown! I have not missed one in the 20 years that I’ve lived here! The weather was threatening a down pour, but actually eased up right at the start of the cruise and, started raining at the finish, how convenient!  I sat outside at the Moose lounge with a group of friends for awhile and then moved to my chairs right at curb side!  My 18-year son and his friends participated for the first time, and drove a white 1971 Chevy long bed.  In years past, I remember this event going until 10:00, and I wish it still did!  At 9:00, it is just getting dark and the flame throwing is just getting started.  Why finish at 9:00?

Happy Anniversary – 20 years!

Happy Anniversary to me!  20 years ago I moved to downtown Coeur d’Alene, to the Sanders Beach area!  We lived in a 100 year old home on Front Ave. for a few years then built a home closer to the 11th Street Marina.   Our son was born here and he is now 18 and headed to Montana State in August,  my husband Peter and I are so proud of this young man!

My husband Peter, was in the Banking Industry and continued with that when we relocated here.   I obtained my Real Estate license and have worked full time the last 20 years!  I’ve achieved many awards and obtained many Realtor(R) designations!  I was awarded Coeur d’Alene’s Realtor of the Year in 2012!

We are happy with our decision to move to this area, and feel that it lived up to our expectations!  It’s a recreational paradise and we have enjoyed boating on the lake, snow-skiing and all downtown events and happenings in Coeur d’Alene!  I welcome you to call me and ask about area information and the Real Estate Market!

The Outlook for home sales is brighter!

Americans’ finances have improved and the outlook for home sales is brighter!  I don’t normally repost, but this is good information:

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke predicted a stronger year for the U.S. economy in 2014, saying several factors that have held back growth appear to be abating.

Americans’ finances have improved and the outlook for home sales is brighter, Bernanke said. He also expects less drag from federal spending cuts and tax increases.

The combination “bodes well for U.S. economic growth in coming quarters,” Bernanke said during a speech to the annual meeting of the American Economic Association in Philadelphia.

Bernanke also used his speech to make some pointed remarks at Congress. He said “excessively tight” budget policies had been counterproductive.

“With fiscal and monetary policy working in opposite directions, the recovery is weaker than it otherwise would be,” Bernanke said.

Bernanke also defended the central bank against critics who say the Fed’s massive bond purchases have had little effect on jumpstarting the recovery.

“Economic growth might well have been considerably weaker, or even negative, without substantial monetary policy support,” Bernanke said. He noted economic research that supported the benefits of the Fed’s bond purchases.

In response to an audience question, Bernanke criticized legislation pending in Congress that would allow the Government Accountability Office to expand its audits of the Fed to look at decisions on interest rates. The GAO, the auditing arm of Congress, can currently conduct audits of the Fed. But it is prohibited from investigating its interest rate decisions.

Bernanke said passage of this legislation would be a bad idea because it would harm the Fed’s independence. He said such independence is necessary to assure markets that the Fed is not being swayed by political interests.

Eagle Watching!

DSC_0817

Did you make it out to see the Eagles?  This was a banner year!  We have gone out to Beauty Bay or Higgins Point the past 20 years and we saw more this year than ever!  We went on a beautiful sunny 40 degree day!  My 18-year old son took the pictures with our new Nikkon camera (Christmas present 2012).

National Rubber Ducky Day Jan. 13th

National Rubber Ducky Month!

Would you like a Rubber Duck keychain?  Call me 208-660-8207.

In 1970, Jim Henson performed the song “Rubber Duckie” as Ernie on Sesame Street, and the rubber duck bath toy has been an iconic American symbol ever since. Rubber ducks have been around since the rise of the rubber industry in the late 1800s, but no one knows their exact origin.

Did you know that in January of 1992, a shipment of 29,000 rubber duckies fell off a cargo ship in the Pacific Ocean? By 2007, the “Friendly Floatees” had traveled 17,000 miles around the world on the ocean currents. Some are still afloat today! Over the years, people reported sightings in Indonesia, Australia, South America, the Bering Straight, the Arctic, and (eventually) the Atlantic Ocean.

Happy Rubber Ducky Day!
